Originally meant to be released on his next record, Detroit-based electronic producer and drummer Shigeto decided to drop a melancholic but hopeful tune early given the Presidential results last week.
This song was finished on november 8th, 2016 with the intention of using it for my next record. i sampled an inspiration to me, detroit artist, tyree guyton speaking at an event a couple months ago and used it in the intro because it spoke to me.
on the morning of november 10th a light went off in my head and realized the song had to be let go.
no matter how i feel or what i’m thinking about the 2016 election.
no matter who i voted for or even if i voted at all…
i’m thinking about what i’m made of right now.
i’m thinking about what we all are made of right now, what the world is made of right now.
i’m thinking about who i want to be and how i want to play my small part in this world right now.
Duke Hugh is a Dutch electronic producer. South London record label Rhythm Section International just dropped his debut album entitled Canvass.
While latin-beat ‘Butterflies‘ is a Gilles Peterson track favorite, the entire album grooves to put you in a dreamy state of mind. From his Bandcamp page:
Each song has its own essence, there is absolutely no filler and the entire double pack sits together as a perfect whole. Flirting with aspects of broken beat, Jazz, hip hop and dreamy electronica – Duke Hugh winds together a most idiosyncratic release equally at home on the peak time dancefloor as it would be for a long road trip. Canvas is a big statement from an artist who’s here to stay.
“Euphoria Guaranteed – or your money back!” That’s the tagline from Polish house producers Earth Trax and Newborn Jr.
Their two-track EP blends saxophone and flute samples into respective jazzy balearic cuts. I expect nothing than the less than timeless dance music from South London’s Rhythm Section International. Stream ‘Flute track’ after the jump.
CO/R is a collaboration between techno heads Herron and Joy Orbison. The duo just released Gudrun, a vinyl 12″ from the Trilogy Tapes Store.
The lead single ‘Bells, Walking’ is a continuation of Joy Orbison’s 2009 post-dubstep hit ‘Hyph Mngo‘ laced in with Herron’s mastery of house and UK garage. Learn more about Joy Orbison in the Sole Selectors video below.

The world is just getting a taste of this emerging talent out of London who is trying to revive the sounds of trip-hop that Massive Attack and Portishead pioneered in their heyday. His latest drop ‘Dark Hour’ continues his overall downtempo vibe.
Signed to underground dub label Deep Heads, known for a library of other tasty releases from label head Zed Bias, Walker released his debut album Augmented 7 last year. The album incorporated elements of dub, reggae, and downtempo all tied to a jazz tone. Take a listen to the collaboration with soul singer Segilola below.
