The Peter Franks Group is an instrumental and jazz beat collective from Bournemouth, England. The fresh and crisp flute-driven track ‘Leaving This Place’ is one of the standout tracks off the band’s album Days Past. ‘Inner Most’ is also a moody gem.
“…A real timeless feel to this courtesy of the joint talents of Halsall, Urquhart, Mwamba, Crennell, Maffei and Manners – but the real magic is in the dreamy keyboard work of Peter Franks and his inventive production techniques.”
SpectraSoul is Brighton-based drum n bass duo David Kennett and Jack Stevens. Having released music on the iconic Metalheadz label and dBridge’s Exit Music label, they have gained a reputation for producing deep, beautiful soulful stepping grooves. Their newest track ‘Second Chance’ is no exception.
Mic Mills is an electronic music producer from Adelaide, Australia. ‘Pig of a Man’ is his latest belter to drop on The Globalise LP, out February 7th. If you like the breaks, be sure to check out the deep 12-inch collaboration with Furious Frank as well.
William Onyeabor was a Nigerian musician and businessman. He was known as “The Chief” in southeast Nigeria, where he built “the greatest record manufacturing business in all of West Africa.” He released nine funky electronic albums in total, all pressed at his own studio.
A legend, he passed away last month. His music survives him.
German electronic artist Orson Wells ‘Blend’ provides a flashback to early 1990s Prodigyesque techno, with a proper step toward vibrating house music. According to the Bandcamp page, the album artwork is a hodgepodge of stickers “found in car liveries.”
Paul White is back with some new music on an all new beat tape, Everything You’ve Forgotten. One of my favorite tracks ‘Maori Baby Junior,’ is the kind of downtempo goodness White is known for. If you dig it, peep ‘Running On A Rainy Day’ after the jump. “Shut the door. It’s going to be a long night…”
