Sherwood & Pinch are London-based dub producers Adrian Sherwood and Rob Ellis aka Pinch. This is the second collaboration from the duo that originally met at the Fabric London night club. “Having spent around five years working together, our work flow has developed and improved considerably, and we both feel that the music we’re making now is something neither of us could or would do alone,” says Ellis.

‘Itchy Face’ is one of the standout arrangements on the latest record
Man Vs. Sofa, trickling with their trademark bassline punches before stepping into soft touches of the piano. Meanwhile, ‘Roll Call’ and ‘Gun Law’ ring with murderous dread overtones.

“I’m really proud of Man Vs. Sofa – Pinch and I have developed a proper great sound together and this is a real step forward,” affirms Sherwood. A grand step forward from two heavyweight producers, indeed.

Jamaican-based dancehall music group Equiknoxx Bird Sound Power is one of Boomkat’s albums of the year, which the site describes as “a paradox, utterly fwd but classic, and with as much potential to turn new heads onto current JA sounds as Mowax’s Now Thing set back in 2001.”

While most of the tracks were recorded this year, the oldest riddim goes as far back as 2009. Wicked, next-level stuff at any age.

Favorite tracks: Last of the Mohicans, Timebird, Someone Flagged It Up

King Sighter – High Rank Something

King Sighter aka Master of All lost his eye in a factory accident when he was 24 years old. He also gained a reputation for wearing his pirate/king suit in appearances and live performances.

Trojan Records originally released the album The One Eyed Giant in 1978, before getting a reissue from London based dub label Burning Sounds. Pretty epic release.

Favorite tracks: I’m Allright, Rising Star, and High Rank Something which you can stream below.

Ash Walker Music – Dark Hour

Ash Walker is right: ‘They do not now yet.’

The world is just getting a taste of this emerging talent out of London who is trying to revive the sounds of trip-hop that Massive Attack and Portishead pioneered in their heyday. His latest drop ‘Dark Hour’ continues his overall downtempo vibe.

Signed to underground dub label Deep Heads, known for a library of other tasty releases from label head Zed Bias, Walker released his debut album Augmented 7 last year. The album incorporated elements of dub, reggae, and downtempo all tied to a jazz tone.  Take a listen to the collaboration with soul singer Segilola below.

PS. Walker’s music also sounds a bit like Smith & Mighty who released this dub-infused bombtune back in 1995.
