If Instagram is serious about replacing the status post, then it must expand its storytelling features.
I’ve noticed that in the last 3 months more Instagrammers are posting multiple images into one using apps like Diptic.
The photo collage can tell a story about a wardrobe or summarize an event. One image replaces the feed.
Instagram is all about keeping it simple, enhancing photos with simple enhancing filters and tilt shift and more importantly sharing them with the 50M+ hyperactive community.
The photo collage feature adds complexity but is no doubt something Instagram can implement if it can still retain the tricks behind its processing speed.
Let’s hope Instagram starts with the “blink” template by Isabel Martinez type above.
Each photograph holds a brief sense of continuity, almost like an animation, slightly cinematographic. Though they provide a notion of movement and progression, you cannot tell which of the two starts it and which one ends it.
