The Renting Society
Society is shifting from ownership to rent. People are looking to save both time and money.
People prefer to rent. They buy online rather than going to the mall. They send a text message, a Facebook message or communicate via Skype over face to face interaction.
As a result, mall traffic is down, teens prefer a smartphones over a driver’s license, and renting things is more popular than full ownership.
The government convinced the Baby Boomer generation to over-consume. Suburbs bloomed. America got rich. But those days are gone. The young today have adopted the fermium and minimalism. We’re encouraged to keep it simple and do more with less.
Constriction isn’t such a bad thing. It forces us to love and use what we have.
