We want all want to be experts and master our subjects. But often times in the mastering process learning becomes habitual. As a result, we get into a comfort zone and lose interest. The challenge is gone.
Then, as we approach mastery, the vicious cycle commences: the more habitual what we are doing becomes, the less we enjoy the “feel good” effects of learning: these two cycles constitute the S-curve.
We have to remind ourselves all the time to “focus less on the outcome and more on the process,” in order to avoid shortcuts to success.
Story short, pursue challenges that keep you excited and on your toes. That’s what learning is all about. Never plateau.
