Juno’s review:

The title track is a gloriously ripe combination of these aforementioned elements, as drums caked with thick dust intertwine with a gorgeous array of strings, soft vocals and warm chiming chords. Everything is chopped with deftness into a rhythmic template aimed towards the heavens. It’s hard not to get caught up in such a simple yet devastatingly effective track arranged in a manner that keeps your attention throughout.

The best advice Andrés got from J Dilla, “listen to your records.”

Sludgy synths, plangent percussion and static washes of noise crescendo theatrically in ʻBodies’, the results swampy and warmly viscous, like decayed fruit. WIFE chops and processes his vocals into smudged, largely incomprehensible passages, with a textural rather than narrative effect. - Fact Mag

7 New tunes to peep this week

  1. Beats always sound better with the headphones on.  Check out the tune “InYourEyes” on HeadPhoneMuzik V. 2. [File under Hip hop beats.  Sounds like DJ Premier.]
  2. If had to make a band name today it would called Discoverer.  And I would make spacy beats like “Circular Motherboard,” which is a free download on Soundcloud.   [File under Electronica.  Sounds like Balam Acab, Hype Williams.]
  3. Mashing electronica, hip hop, and rock Bullion does it again on “Devo Esk.”  [File under Electronica.  Sounds like Paul White, Boards of Canada.]
  4. From the banks of London comes Triad God, a musician that raps in his native Vietnam tongue.  Check out “Top Level Club Prostitute” on his recent released NXB album.  [File under Electronica.  Sounds like Fatima Al Quadiri.]
  5. Machines” is a devastating roller from drum n bass artist ENEI.  ”Runnin” rolls nicely as well.  [File under Jungle/Drum N Bass.  Sounds like Goldie and Andy C.]
  6. Lovely little Sunday tune entitled “___” from Jabu.  The whole album is streamable here. [File under Electronica. Sounds like something from Ulrich Schnauss.]
  7. More Sunday listening:  Cinematic and relaxing music from Willy Sunshine on “Circles on the water,” also a free download. [File under Beats.  Sounds like Afta-1.]
